Mirissa

The world renowned hub of whale watching, Mirissa is a small village perched on a beautiful crescent of beach on the South coast. Regarded as the closest point to where the giant Blue whales congregate, five types of whales and four kinds of dolphins are found in the surrounding waters.

Arugambay

Located on the South Eastern shoreline and buzzing with life, Arugambay is possibly the ‘coolest’ little seaside town in Sri Lanka, offering the best surfing on the island with several local and international events taking place during the season. The Lahugala, Kumana and Yala national parks are close by too.

Dickwella

Boasting pristine beaches just perfect for snorkelling, the quiet town of Dickwella lies just beyond Dondra – the southernmost point of Sri Lanka. An excursion to the nearby attraction of ‘Hummanaya’ – a natural blowhole is a must and the area is also famous for ‘beeralu lace’ or traditional ‘bobbin’ lace making.

Tangalle

Apart from the beautiful beaches Tangalle offers much to explore: the ancient rock temples of Mulkirigala, the protected beach at Rekawa – Sri Lanka’s best site for endangered turtles and the Kalametiya Bird Sanctuary. The plateau of Ussangoda – a barren landscape with red soil is a wonderful sight as well.

Nilaveli

Stunning beach of white-gold stretching for miles and calm seas you can wade into – sounds perfect? Nilaveli is a haven for serious lovers of sun, sea and sand. Located on the East coast north of Trincomalee, it offers some beach action, and the exquisite Pigeon Island is just off shore.

Alankudah

Located on the North Western coast off the Kalpitiya peninsular, the village of Alankudah is fast becoming popular as a key set off point for off-shore Whale Watching and Dolphin watching. It also offers plenty of water sports action such as sailing, wind surfing, kayaking, canoeing, kite surfing and snorkelling.
